She may be super busy, but everyone needs to chill out sometimes. here are some of our guest editor’s favourite TV SHOWS.
My favourite childhood show was...
As a teenager, I used to rush home to watch the big Aussie soaps Home and Away and Neighbours. There was something so cool about the kids in Summer Bay and everyone at school suddenly wanted to learn how to surf – which was tricky in Stoke!
I also liked watching science fiction television series Blake’s 7 and M*A*S*H, following a group of doctors who were stationed on the field during the Korean War, which I watched with my parents.
My guilty (TV) pleasure is...
I just love National Geographic style travel programmes, where they travel the world and show different cultures and ways of living.
Despite my background, funnily enough I’ve never got into food programmes but I love a recipe book…I read them in bed at night.
I am not a big fan of reality shows because I have seen the other side of it with The Restaurant [Sarah was a judge and presenter on the BBC show where couples competed to go into business with the chef Raymond Blanc (2007-09)] but I have been known to switch on Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
The series I’m hooked on...
When we get really hooked on something, it tends to be the big American series like House of Cards and most recently I have loved Billions, with Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis. I have friends who work in the financial markets and they say it was brilliantly done. It was a stellar cast and I am a huge fan of Lewis anyway. He was fab in Homeland, too.
The programme my partner and I are most at odds about is...
It is funny but the programme we’re most at odds about is Dragons’ Den. As I am away so much filming it, my husband loves to watch it like a normal person and is excited to see what happens in the Den and what the overall outcome will be, but I can’t watch it in the same way. It is hard to watch it objectively and the kids say I’m a nightmare because I talk too much while it’s on! My husband also loves sci-fi and stuff where aliens are killing people but I could not be less interested.
The best programme/series I’ve watched recently...
I know everyone loved it, but for me Breaking Bad was the best thing I have ever watched. It was such an amazing concept and to sustain the storyline and suspense for that long and still be quality viewing, I just found that really impressive. And being married to a Dane, we loved the Scandi dramas The Bridge and The Killing, too.
