The Technical Architecture Function sits within our Implementation & Consultancy Services Division and is responsible for the consultation and implementation of end-to-end technical solutions in customer environments. This is a customer facing role and requires the holder to spend a high proportion of their time building partnerships through face-to-face interactions.
To be successful in this role you will be skilled at communicating complex technical solutions to a non-technical audience. You will be working with a range of stakeholders including customers, project teams, operational teams, service transition and sales/account managers.
Customer Impact. For customers you will be a trusted technical expert, getting a full understanding of the customer’s strategy and vision and providing direction and steer. You will demonstrate RM’s unique understanding of the education environment. This leads into implementation where you will ensure that all technical deliverables are met to a high standard. For strategic customers you will take ownership of demonstrating the up-to-date view of the technology and the creation of a roadmap showing when technology will need replacing/upgrading. You will ensure that all contractual technical deliverables are met.
Project Impact. At implementation you will be a key member of the project team ensuring consistent technical delivery. You will be responsible for signing off that all technical deliverables have been met and will provide a technical escalation point for all other team members.
Operational Teams. Technical Architects will work with the Service Transition teams to ensure that the operational teams have everything they need with the new service or changed service ensuring it has been fully designed and implemented.
Responsibilities
- Consultation with external stakeholders to capture long term strategy and vision. Provide steer on technical direction.
- Feed consultation output into Go To Market (GTM) teams to provide reliable quotation.
- Development of Technical Implementation documentation
- Understand emerging technology and how it applies to education.
- Continuous improvement – Help grow and strengthen RM Products and Services by providing feedback on implementations.
- Technical ownership for delivery of strategic contracts
Consultation
- Work with key external stakeholders to understand and capture their strategy/vision for ICT and the base position.
- Based on requirements define the scope for the GTM teams to quote
- Deliver value for the customer.
Implementation
- Work with key external stakeholders to ensure that they understand all the technical deliverables for the project.
- Work with the Project Team to ensure that all technical deliverables are accurately reflected in plan.
- Agree work instructions for the technical teams.
- Define Technical Acceptance Criteria
- Ensure areas for continuous improvement are identified and acted upon
- Work with the required stakeholders to get project acceptance.
- Work with the service transition teams to handover the project into the live environment.
- Aid the Early Life Support Period
Strategy and approach
- Provide input to the RM Product Development and Service Development Teams
- Provide feedback to the RM GTM teams.
- Ensure all implementation activity is aligned to the company strategy and operating model.
Support and Governance
- Provide support to other team members.
- Provide peer review and feedback on Solution Implementation Scopes
- Provide peer review and feedback on implementation issues.
- Provide expertise on technical aspects of customer complaints.
Experience
You will have proven experience of:
- Providing consultancy
- Architecting ICT Solutions
- Implementation of large-scale technical solutions
- Designing and implementing new service structures
- Experience implementing and managing large scale managed client environments.
- Experience in Identity Management, for example between on premises and cloud solutions
You will be:
- A strong communicator, able to work with a variety of stakeholders, and effectively communicate technical knowledge to non-technical audiences.
- A confident collaborative team player, able to lead by example, and inspire and motivate others.
- Pro-active and driven by improvement, willing to take responsibility and have the mind-set for continuous improvement.
- Have flexibility to travel when required to customer sites across the UK.
You will have:
- ITIL 4 Foundation Training
- Microsoft Azure experience essential
- Google Workspace experience
- HPE Aruba wired and wireless accreditations,
- Experience of enterprise wired, and wireless environments is crucial – e.g. knowledge of switching, VLANs, Internet connectivity (not just software experience)
